FAQS
Absolutely! We believe everyone can sing, even if they think they can’t. Come along and give it a go. We welcome everyone, whatever their ability. There’s nothing quite like singing in a group to lift your spirits and we want as many mums as possible to experience this.
Not at all. We learn each part by ear so there’s no need to be able to read music.
No. We welcome everyone, whether they’ve been in a choir before or not. Some Hummy Mummies are experienced singers, some haven’t sung at all since school, others have never sung as part of a choir before. We simply want as many mums as possible to experience the feeling of singing as a group.
Yes, of course. This is what Hummy Mummies is all about – singing with your bump, baby or toddler in tow! We promise you won’t be glared at if your toddler makes a noise or has a tantrum. All we ask is that you take responsibility for your own child and if it’s a particularly spectacular tantrum, it would probably make sense for you to take him out of the room for a few moments while he calms down.
Yes, of course you can. We want you to feel as relaxed and welcome as possible. If you need to breastfeed or bottle-feed your baby, that’s fine by us. And nappy-changing is a common occurrence during our sessions!
Yes, definitely. We welcome mums AND carers and often have nannies attending our sessions.
Yes, you can. We’ve had several “Hummy Daddies” attend our sessions. You are very welcome!
Yes, we have many mothers whose children are now at school who come to our sessions. Often, but not always, these are mums who have been coming to Hummy Mummies since their children were tiny and they just don’t want to give up their weekly sing-a-long! You just need to bear in mind that the sessions will mostly be filled with mums with their bumps, babies or toddlers in tow.
We sing a range of music, primarily based around pop, rock, folk and world music as well as original songs written especially for Hummy Mummies. There is no religious or political bias. You can view some of our recent concerts here
You can either pay for a full term (12 weeks) for £90 or for a half term (6 weeks) for £50. Each of our Hummy Mummy leaders runs a minimum of 2 sessions per week. We offer all Hummy Mummies the flexibility to attend as many of the sessions run by their leader as they wish – they don’t have to sign up to one particular day and time. We understand that sometimes little babies and tricky toddlers can stop you getting to the same session every week!
Unfortunately not. This is because if the option is there for drop-in, our Hummy Mummies leaders have no idea how many people will show up and they pay for the venue regardless of whether 0 or 25 people show.
Yes, of course! Simply speak to your Hummy Mummies leader to arrange a part-payment. We have lots of mums joining mid-term.
Yes, we do. A taster session costs £2.50 and will be taken off the cost of the fee if you decide to join. You can either book the taster through Happity, or just come along and pay at the session. If you like it and want to continue, then you’ll need to pay for the half term or full term to join (or part payment if it’s midway through a half-term).
Yes. Every term, each Hummy Mummies leader will be preparing their groups for an end of term concert. We also perform at various community events such as local fairs, arts festivals, school fairs etc.
